Syirah

My name is Nurul Syakirah. I am 18 years old and I come from Bukit Payong, Terengganu. There are six of us in my family. I have one brother and two sisters. My father is 51 years old and he works as a driver. My mother is a housewife.

I went to Bukit Sawa Secondary School, which is a normal school. There were not so many people with disabilities there, but as I only have a physical disability, I was able to follow the standard education route. My favourite subject is Bahasa Melayu.

I have been working at Tapai for the past 8 months, since January 2019. I decided to join Tapai because they provide work to disabled people like me. At the moment, I still can’t sew and spend a lot of time observing and learning. I also helped with some parts of the production process that does not involve sewing, such as cutting fabric and ironing. I love Tapai because they give us opportunities to develop our skills. Plus everyone is kind and respectful.

I love listening to music during my free time, especially Kpop songs. My dream is to become a professional tailor and have my own shop in Terengganu.
